The first Official Release of Longrow (heavilly peated spirit from Springbank distillery) as a 21 Year Old Single Malt. Matured in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks, this is said to be annual limited release. The 2019 edition has an outturn of 3600 bottles only.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a mahogany edge.

Nose

A rich, meaty peat smoke fills the glass, evoking beef jerky and Iberico ham, with sweet whispers of toffee, salted popcorn and honeydew melon.

Palate

Dark forest fruits and prunes open to a rich creaminess, with amaretti biscuits and sweet dried coconut. Fennel, pine needles and a delicate spiciness weave through the palate, delivering balance and length.

Finish

A silky, lingering finish with a bright citrus orange tang, fading into velvety warmth and a subtle, smoky echo.

(LONG-row) Longrow is the heavily peated single malt made at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, first produced in 1973 as an experiment to prove that an Islay-style whisky could be made on the mainland. It takes its name from a lost Campbeltown distillery that once stood beside Springbank, and what began as a one-off run later became a regular part of production, with Longrow established as one of the distillery’s three core styles alongside Springbank and Hazelburn.
