Kilkerran Work In Progress 5 - Bourbon Wood Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Out of stock
Distilled at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown and bottled in 2013 at 46% ABV, this release forms part of the Kilkerran “Work In Progress” series, a range created to showcase the developing spirit of the distillery while it waited for its first core 12-year-old expression to reach maturity. This edition was matured in bourbon wood and yielded 9,000 bottles.
The Work In Progress releases chart the early years of Kilkerran production following the reopening of Glengyle Distillery in 2004 by the Mitchell family, owners of Springbank. Each bottling offered enthusiasts a glimpse of how the spirit evolved through maturation before the eventual launch of the permanent range.

Tasting Notes
Nose
This is evidently a Campbeltown dram. The waxy, lightly smoky nose with hints of leather gives away the origin of this dram. Rich and creamy with hints of American cream soda, apricots, dark fruit and linseed.
Palate
Just like previous WIPs the tangy orange and citrus marmalade notes remains. A little bit sweeter than previous WIP releases, with clear presence of apricot jam. There is a great weight of Campbeltown sea air present. Very smooth and fruity.
Finish
Fresh, sweet yet dry finish.
