Bottled in 2021 at 46% ABV, this Kilkerran 16 Year Old is produced at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown and forms part of the distillery’s annual age-stated releases. The whisky matured for 16 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, with the 2021 edition composed of 75% bourbon casks and 25% sherry casks.
Kilkerran is the single malt produced at Glengyle, a distillery revived in 2004 by J&A Mitchell (owners of Springbank) to help restore Campbeltown’s historic whisky-making heritage. The spirit is lightly peated and known for combining coastal character with rich malt sweetness.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Soft and delicate on the nose, an initial malty, cereal element opens up to sweet apricot notes. With hints of lemon meringue pie and orange peel, a soft citrus characteristic develops over time.
Palate
Following the delicate nose, this malt is clearly more powerful on the palate. Sweet and sticky with a waxy mouthfeel and a hint of aniseed. Lemon, pear drops and honey notes are present alongside rich milk chocolate and liquorice.
Finish
Rounded off with a gentle peat smoke influence, and the endurance of the malty, cereal notes.
