Bottled in 2021 at 46% ABV, this Kilkerran 16 Year Old is produced at Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown and forms part of the distillery’s annual age-stated releases. The whisky matured for 16 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, with the 2021 edition composed of 75% bourbon casks and 25% sherry casks.
Kilkerran is the single malt produced at Glengyle, a distillery revived in 2004 by J&A Mitchell (owners of Springbank) to help restore Campbeltown’s historic whisky-making heritage. The spirit is lightly peated and known for combining coastal character with rich malt sweetness.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber-gold with warm coppery undertones and a touch of mahogany.
Nose
Soft and delicate on the nose, a malty, cereal core opens to sweet apricot, with hints of lemon meringue pie and orange peel; a soft citrus character develops slowly.
Palate
Sweet and sticky with a waxy, mouth-coating feel and a hint of aniseed. Lemon, pear drops and honey pair with milk chocolate and liquorice, giving a rich, malty sweetness that lingers with a touch of coastal warmth.
Finish
A gentle peat smoke lingers, carried by persistent malty, cereal notes that endure into the finish.
