Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with bronze-tinged mahogany depths and a coppery glow, like liquid sunset.

Nose

A lush bouquet of sugar syrup, raisins and fondant, with a soft malt underpinning in the background.

Palate

A sweet, complex palate of sultanas and dried fruits, with peppery spice and a delicate floral lift.

Finish

Long and warming, the finish lingers with dates, sweet spices and sweet grapes, leaving a soft, fruity warmth that slowly fades.

Glencadam
(glen-CADAM) Glencadam was founded in 1825 by George Cooper in Brechin, making it one of the older Highland distilleries still in operation. Its history includes a long period under blending companies rather than as a major single malt name in its own right, with ownership later passing through Hiram Walker and Allied Domecq before the distillery was mothballed in 2000. A new chapter began in 2003, when Angus Dundee Distillers acquired and reopened the site, with the first new production run under its ownership taking place that August.
