Dark Origins has been released in recognition of the dark history of the Highland Park distillery and it's smuggler founder Magnus Eunson. A fantastic dram which has been produced using 1st and 2nd fill ex- Oloroso Sherry casks.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany hues and a glossy copper glow.
Nose
Smoked heather honey over hot coals mingles with rich toffee and mocha, brightened by aromatic spices—cinnamon, star anise and clove. Oily orange notes weave with bitter cocoa, while fig jam on malt loaf and ribbons of butterscotch deepen the sweetness, finished with leather and wet suede.
Palate
Big, chewy sweetness of smoke, toffee, chocolate and mocha blends with peppery oak and liquorice. Waxy orange, earthy peat and heather frame the palate, finished with blackcurrant conserve and blueberry fruitiness.
Finish
Peppery figs smolder over a peat bonfire, followed by sweet toffee, charcoal chocolate and heather honey, with lingering aromatic spices and a robust kiss of rich oak.
