The third release in Kilkerran's 'Peat in Progress' series charting the development of their heavily peated spirit. Bottled around the 5 year old mark this has been matured in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks. Bottled at a natural cask strengthof 59.7% and peated to over 70ppm, this is not for the faint hearted!

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery glow and a mahogany-tinged edge.
Nose
Bright citrus opens the nose, mingled with smoked applewood and a distinct maritime coastal influence. Hints of blackened, toasted marshmallow and tropical fruit sweetness linger, while the familiar dunnage warehouse funk sits in the background.
Palate
Initially biscuity and buttery, with liquorice and fennel unfurling later. Sweet, fruity peat smoke softens to a drier, smoky peat that evokes the kiln room’s full atmosphere. A signature apple strudel note threads through, while lemon sherbet flavours brighten each sip.
Finish
Long, seamlessly integrated peat smoke lingers, remarkably complex and never overpowering. A malty, cereal backbone sits beneath, while a coastal influence threads through this batch, leaving a gentle maritime finish that grows more nuanced with every breath.
