A new limited release for 2017 of a 100% Ex-Bourbon cask aged 8 year old cask strength from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown, a distillery that only released its first whisky in 2007.
Another impressive addition to the range of this fledgling distillery, classic Campbeltown/Springbank sooty smoke and green fruit on display here and takes water well.
Plenty going on here for an 8 year old and this packs a real punch when tasted at natural cask strength.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Natural amber-gold with sunlit honey sheen and coppery highlights.
Nose
Singed straw and wet earth greet green apple orchards, with rhubarb and smoked vanilla custard. Spiced oat crumble and apple puree mingle, while herbal florals finish with a salted lime curd note.
Palate
Earthy, dry peat smoke frames a salted shortbread and smoked oatmeal core, with apple cores and pear drops. Herbal, grassy, oily mouthfeel opens to salted white chocolate fudge, peppery stewed rhubarb, and bright white grapefruit with almond.
Finish
White pepper lingers on grapefruit, mingled with smoked vanilla shortbread and rhubarb fresh from wet soil. Aniseed custard meets ripe melon as sooty spice and lime marmalade trail away.
