GlenAllachie Scottish Virgin Oak Finished Single Malt Scotch Whisky 15 Year Old
In stock
This very rare malt obtains its sophisticated flavours from casks made of Scottish Sessile Oak (Quercus Petrae) sourced from the Atlantic coast. Scottish oak is incredibly challenging to work with at all stages of production; growing, milling and coopering. Its rarity, costliness and tendency to knot mean it is scarcely used for whisky maturation.
Before being filled, the wood was air dried for 36 months, then toasted and charred to a medium level. Using just a handful of casks, the resulting spirit delivers a truly exceptional drinking experience, oozing with vanilla and butterscotch, perfectly balanced with rich notes of cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber-gold with coppery highlights and a warm, honeyed glow.
Nose
Opulent vanilla and butterscotch lead, entwined with toasted Scottish oak. Spices rise: cinnamon, ginger and cloves, carried on a creamy, honeyed sweetness that hints at toffee and almond.
Palate
Silky, full-bodied palate with velvety vanilla and creamy butterscotch leading, then a vibrant wave of cinnamon, ginger and clove. Subtle oak tannins from the rare Scottish sessile wood knit sweetness to a warm, mouth-coating richness, ending in a long, refined finish.
Finish
Long, decadent finish of vanilla and butterscotch that fans into warming spice—cinnamon, ginger and cloves—while a delicate toasted oak echo lingers. Elegantly balanced, with a sweet, refined tail that slowly fades to a soft, spicy drydown.
