Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich amber with coppery glints and a honey-gold, sunlit glow.

Nose

Intense, velvety nose of vanilla and toasted oak, entwined with ripe pear, apricot and peach, brightened by citrus zest. Gentle spices—cinnamon and clove—layer over honeyed malt, while a touch of smoke and cocoa adds depth. The 53.5% ABV frames an inviting, creamy perfume with a polished finish.

Palate

Bold and opulent, this Quarter Cask whisky coats the palate with ripe orchard and tropical fruit—pear, peach, mandarin—accented by velvety vanilla and caramel. Spices of cinnamon and clove ride toasted oak, while cocoa and a peppery warmth linger into a long, luxurious finish.

Finish

Long, warming finish with oak and vanilla, fading to orange zest and toffee, then a lingering kiss of cinnamon and pepper, finishing with cocoa-dusted warmth.

Chichibu
(chee-CHEE-boo) Chichibu was founded by Ichiro Akuto and began distilling in 2008 in Saitama Prefecture, at a time when new Japanese whisky distilleries were still rare. Akuto had already made his name by rescuing casks from his family’s closed Hanyu distillery and bottling them as Ichiro’s Malt, so Chichibu arrived with a strong sense of continuity as well as a fresh start.
