Part of the 2013 Cask Collection that included the Sherry cask that was voted "Best Whisky in the world" by Jim Murray and the final year of the series.

Aged in Japanese Mizunara oak (indigenous to Japan) casks for a true oriental experience.

Very aromatic and elegant and very rare to find any Mizunara cask aged whisky.

97 points Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet, spicy and perfumed oak, leathery notes or new suede, sugared almonds, coconut, woody incense, cinnamaon, caramelised oranges.

Palate

Huge delivery of sweet and oily aromatic oak, butterscotch, leather, mocha, coconut, spicy raisin.

Finish

Chocolate, coconut, aromatic spices, buttery cake mix, sandalwood.

Yamazaki
(yah-mah-ZAH-kee) Yamazaki was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii at the foot of Mt. Tennozan, on the outskirts of Kyoto, and is recognised as Japan’s first and oldest malt whisky distillery. Torii chose the site for its soft water and misty climate where the Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers meet, believing it could produce a style of whisky better suited to Japanese palates than a straight imitation of Scotch.
