Ben Nevis Thompson Bros Single Malt Scotch Whisky 52 Year Old · 1973 Vintage
Out of stock
This remarkable 52-year-old Ben Nevis is a rare glimpse into half a century of Highland whisky history. Distilled in 1973 and nurtured entirely in the Highlands, it reflects decades of patient stewardship under the Hobbs family, Whitbread / Long John, and later Nikka, with the late Colin Ross among its guardians.
Bottled by the Thompson Brothers, it delivers an exceptionally elegant, long-matured profile where aged oak, soft fruits and gentle sweetness intertwine with mellow spice and antique depth.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, sun-warmed amber with copper-gold highlights and a hint of mahogany at the rim, a luminous, time-bronzed hue echoing decades in the cask.
Nose
Brown banana meets antique furniture polished with orange oils, Seville orange peel and yellow raisins. Walnut skin, pine sap and blackberry leaf provide a warm, resinous base, while Ricciarelli and Muscat grapes add almondy sweetness. Tonka bean threads through subtle spice, with hints of old Amontillado. A Persian rug shop scented by incense lingers, finishing with elegant, time-worn depth.
Palate
Marzipan folds into tonka and warm cloves, carried by orange oils and dried citrus peels; Ricciarelli with citrus peel, mace and hints of oxidised amontillado weave through boxed raisins, finishing with an earthy edge from raw shiitake.
Finish
Linseed oil and cloves linger, paired with white grape skin and ginger tea; the warmth eases into a drier finish, revealing a patient, gentle oak.
