Tasting Notes

Colour

Rich amber with coppery highlights and ruby-tinted edges, a warm, bronze glow that hints at the Amarone finish.

Nose

Opulent nose of blackcurrant cordial and fresh strawberries, mingling with orange oil and milk chocolate; a whisper of furniture polish adds lacquered depth, while candied ginger and wine gums lift the aroma with candy-sweet warmth.

Palate

Sultanas and maraschino cherries mingle with liquorice, while clove and cinnamon lend warmth; cranberries add tart brightness, finished with a whisper of Turkish Delight.

Finish

A luxurious finish of dark chocolate and icing sugar, with strawberry laces weaving sweetness, and a final whisper of freshly roasted coffee lingering on the palate.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan in Ambergate, becoming Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft distillery and the first whisky distillery in the Peak District region. Housed in the former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works on the banks of the River Derwent, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has built its identity around a strong sense of Derbyshire provenance and the industrial history of its home.
