Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich deep amber with copper-gold sheen and mahogany edges.
Nose
Peat smoke interlaces with rich sherry, releasing prune, raisin and dark fig, touched by cocoa and burnt sugar. Leather, tobacco and sea-salt lend depth, while vanilla and spice ribbon through, giving a polished, old‑world lift.
Palate
Opulent, full-bodied palate of dark sherry fruits—prunes, fig, raisin—woven with Port Ellen’s signature peat and sea-salt tar; sherry-cask richness lingers. Rich cacao, espresso and burnt sugar mingle with spicy clove and black pepper. A velvet, warming mouthfeel coats the tongue, with a lingering smoky, mineral finish and a final brush of leather and almonds.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish unfolds with sherried sweetness—raisin, fig and dark chocolate—brightened by coastal peat and a touch of spice. The warmth lingers, with smoky, maritime notes closing in a refined, lingering echo.
