Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with coppery-gold sheen and a warm, honeyed glow.

Nose

Sea breeze and citrus give way to floral highlights, with whispers of chocolate, peat and toasted oak.

Palate

Silky, soft sweetness coats the palate, with milk chocolate, cedar and black pepper, evolving into honey, smoke and apricot, and finishing with a kiss of salt.

Finish

Coconut and peat smoke linger, tapering to a soft almond fade.

(Port SHAR-lot) Port Charlotte is the name Bruichladdich uses for its heavily peated Islay single malt, produced at Bruichladdich Distillery but named after the nearby silent Port Charlotte distillery, later known as Lochindaal, which first ran in 1829 and closed in 1929. Bruichladdich began distilling Port Charlotte spirit in 2001 after the distillery’s revival, and the first release, PC5, followed in 2006.
