Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with copper-bronze highlights and a ruby-tinged edge.
Nose
Bold peat and maritime iodine rise first, echoed by a lush layer of dark fruit from the Syrah finish. Smoke drifts with blackberry, plum and a touch of violet, while warm vanilla and cocoa nibs thread through. A spice pepperiness and a whisper of leather complete a sumptuous, wine-kissed Islay aroma.
Palate
Explosive peat smoke frames the palate, a maritime edge of iodine and salt. Syrah-wine influence floods dark fruit: blackberry, plum, black cherry, with peppery spice and warm vanilla from the oak. Full-bodied and velvety, it layers cocoa, leather and a touch of ash, finishing long, warming, and lightly saline.
Finish
An enduring, peat-smoked finish with a sea-salt tang, unveiling dark cherry and plum from the Syrah cask influence. Black pepper and cocoa thread through the tail, while delicate oak and mineral notes linger, carried on a warming, coastal breeze that slowly fades to a resinous, lingering sweetness.
