Distilled on 12 May 2009 and bottled in 2021 at 55.5% ABV, this 12-year-old Mannochmore was released by Fable Whisky as part of the illustrated Fable Series – Hound, Chapter 5. The whisky was drawn from a single hogshead (cask #303406) and matured for its full term in oak before being bottled at natural cask strength.
The Fable series presents single cask whiskies alongside chapters of an illustrated story titled “The Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay,” with each release representing a different character from the tale.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold sheen and a honey-bronze glow.
Nose
Ripe pear and honeydew melon rise from the glass, framed by fine oak. Ripened strawberries mingle with white grapes as pear and honey linger, with subtle herb garden notes.
Palate
Mango and pear surge forward, then oak. A full, oily mouthfeel with strawberry and grape notes returning in a lush, oily-crisp fruit core. A hint of forest honey and candle-wax resin on green fruit lingers. With water, the oak relaxes to reveal bright green exotic fruit salad, fresh bread and a very buttery edge.
Finish
An elegant finish from Mannochmore, where honey, pear and mango linger amid toasted oak. A fruit-salad echo persists, with a long to medium finish that carries a touch of astringency, spicy oak, fresh mint and creamy banana.
