Laphroaig Elements Of Islay Lp 9 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1998 Vintage
Out of stock
Sherry and smoke do make a wonderful combination. This 2018 release of Laphroaig from Elixir Distillers Elements of Islay range, sees a 1998 vintage Laphroaig matured solely in a single Pedro Ximenez sherry butt. Bottled at cask strength and one of only 714 bottles. WOW!
Super balance to this whisky, thick smoke and classic medicinal character combine with sweet cherry and strawberry aromas. The palate is rich, stewed, gamey and fruity, rather like BBQ ribs with plum sauce over a coal fire if you ask me. Devine stuff. The finish is salty, fruity, dry and smokey.
A must have/try Laphroaig.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany depth and coppery, ruby-tinted highlights, a sherry-warmed glow.
Nose
Dense peat smoke and medicinal iodine rise from the glass, braided with lush Pedro Ximénez sweetness. Ripe cherry and strawberry fruit mingle with brine, caramel and dark chocolate, while a coal-fire smoke edge lingers on the senses. Opulent, balanced and inviting, this bouquet promises a bold, cask-strength dram to come.
Palate
Thick coastal smoke blankets the palate, with a rich, stewed fruit core. Savory, gamey notes mingle with sweet cherry and strawberry; BBQ plum-sauce and char add depth, while a bold, cask-strength warmth and saline smoke linger on the tongue.
Finish
Salty and fruity, the finish is dry and smokey, with lingering cherry and plum sweetness carried on a veil of medicinal peat as the smoke slowly fades.
