Deep amber-gold with coppery hues and a subtle ruby sheen from the red wine cask aging.

Sweet peat blends with raspberry ripple sweetness, wrapped in a haze of smoke.

Palate

Jam-packed with red fruits, this Caol Ila flows through a peaty tide, with raspberries and cherries echoing against smoky, maritime notes. Red wine cask influence lends sweetness and depth, while the peat remains lush and persistent, finishing long with warm, fruity smoke.

Finish

An enduring, smoky finish that lingers with plush red-fruit sweetness—raspberry and cherry—brightened by wine-spice and a kiss of vanilla. The peat stays, fading into a saline Islay echo, with a final note of cocoa and oak.

Caol Ila
(kowel-EEL-ah) Caol Ila was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson near Port Askaig on Islay’s east coast, overlooking the Sound of Islay between Islay and Jura. Its Gaelic name refers to that stretch of water, and the site was chosen with access to sea transport and a water supply from Loch nam Ban. Ownership changed early, passing to Norman Buchanan in 1854 and then to Bulloch Lade & Co in 1863.
