The Macbeth Series by Livingstone is a Scotch Whisky collection selected and bottled by Elixer distillers. This remarkable collection is presented with character notes by renowned whisky writer David Broom, and illustrations by one of Europe's most famous illustrators, Sir Quentin Blake.
In a career spanning seven decades, Sir Quentin Blake has illustrated over 300 books including classic works by Roald Dahl such as The BFG, Matilda, and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. He rarely produces any commercial illustration and his work is highly collectable.
Distilled at Bunnahabhain, the Lord Macduff edition has been aged in sherry oak for an incredible 45 years.
Notes about Lord Macduff from Oliver Chilton of Elixer Distillers:
“On occasion, a distillery can capture a particular time and place through the flavours of its spirit. Throughout the 60s and 70s Bunnahabhain stood separate from both the mainland and its Islay kin, creating flavours of orchard fruit and barley sugar; maritime but without the smoke. As with our character, any lightness has been weathered by experience in solitude, while the notes of baked apples, toffee and tarragon allow this malt to grow and become the true hero in our story.”.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep burnished amber, with coppery highlights and a warm mahogany glow.
Nose
Orchard fruit—ripe apples and pears—lead the aroma, with the sweetness of toffee and barley sugar unfolding behind. Sherry oak brings dried-fruit depth and a touch of vanilla, while a maritime, smoke-free breeze threads through. Subtle tarragon adds a fresh herbaceous lift, finishing with refined wood polish and quiet, age-old complexity.
Palate
Silky and refined on the palate, this 45-year-old sherry-forward malt coats the mouth with velvety warmth. Orchard fruit and barley sugar give way to baked apples and toffee, braided with a delicate tarragon lift. Subtle maritime salinity threads through, keeping the sweetness buoyant and poised, delivering a measured, enduring finish.
Finish
Long, contemplative finish with baked apples and toffee giving way to orchard fruit and barley sugar. Sherry oak sweetness lingers, threaded by a subtle tidal saline and a wispy note of tarragon, softly evolving into a refined, warm, nutty echo that fades with grace.
