About Talisker
(TAL-iss-ker) Talisker was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill in Carbost on the shores of Loch Harport, and it remains the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye. Its history includes a major stillhouse fire in 1960, after which the distillery was rebuilt with exact replicas of the original stills to preserve its character, and it now forms part of Diageo’s malt whisky portfolio.
Talisker has long been defined by its maritime style, combining peat smoke, sea salt, citrus and its unmistakable peppery finish. That character is shaped not only by its exposed coastal setting, but also by production choices including wooden worm tub condensers, which help create a richer, weightier spirit. From Talisker 10 Year Old to Storm, Skye and a steady run of older and special releases, the range has made Talisker one of the most recognisable and distinctive names in Scotch whisky.
