Talisker Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a smooth and approachable expression from the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye. Introduced in 2015 and named in tribute to the island’s dramatic landscape, it retains Talisker’s unmistakable combination of maritime character, gentle peat smoke and peppery spice while presenting it in a softer, sweeter style. The whisky is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a higher proportion of toasted casks used to build layers of vanilla, sweetness and warming spice. This oak influence complements the distillery’s rugged coastal spirit, creating a well-rounded Island single malt that balances fresh fruit and subtle smoke with sea salt, pepper and savoury depth. Fresh orange and soft mango lead the aroma, followed by sea air, briny seaweed, driftwood and a light thread of smoke. The palate begins smooth and sweet, with juicy citrus, vanilla and gentle malt before developing Talisker’s characteristic peppery warmth. Light peat smoke, coastal salinity and savoury spice emerge as the whisky opens, leading into a medium-length, gently drying finish with lingering pepper and soft, smoky embers. Bottled at Talisker’s signature strength of 45.8% ABV, Talisker Skye is an excellent introduction to peated single malt Scotch whisky. Its balance of fruit, smoke and maritime spice also makes it an appealing choice for established Talisker drinkers seeking a slightly softer expression.
