Blair Athol Macbeth Act One - Household Series - The Bloody Sergeant Single Malt Scotch Whisky 10 Year Old
In stock
A collection of forty-two different whiskies from the length and breadth of Scotland, selected and bottled by Livingstone in partnership with Elixir Distillers. Each whisky represents a character from the Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, with illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake and character notes by Dave Broom.
The Bloody Sergeant is one of ten characterful whiskies in The Household series.
Thick and heavy, Blair Athol is a spirit that loves to perform in richer wood profiles. For the Bloody Sergeant, a hardy soldier loyal to King Duncan, we married bourbon hogsheads, bursting with vanilla and toffee, with ex-wine casks to build in layers of fruit and tannin, all accentuating the robustness of this Highland malt.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber with copper-gold sheen and a hint of mahogany.
Nose
Opulent and heavy, Blair Athol floods the nose with vanilla and toffee from bourbon hogsheads. Ex-wine casks layer red-fruit richness—plum, cherry, currant—with tannic warmth, spice, and dark oak. A robust, luxurious perfume that signals the whisky's confident Highland character.
Palate
Thick and weighty on the tongue, it pours vanilla and toffee from bourbon hogsheads, layered with ripened dark fruit from ex-wine casks. Rich, chewy malt coats the mouth, a whisper of spice and cocoa emerging as the oak tightens, leaving a robust, persistent tannic finish that echoes the Bloody Sergeant’s iron resolve.
Finish
The finish is long and warming, with vanilla and toffee from the bourbon cask lingering beside ripened fruit and a tannic bite from the ex-wine influence. Oak spice and a dash of pepper creep in as the Highland depth slowly fades.
