Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice range, this 2008 Blair Athol comes from single cask #18601603 and was bottled in 2023 at 14 years old. Matured in an ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at a natural strength of 57.8% ABV, the cask yielded 165 bottles.
That ex-bourbon maturation is worth noting, as Blair Athol is more often seen in sherry-led styles. Here, the cask puts a brighter side of the distillery on show, bringing orchard fruit, tropical notes and vanilla sweetness to Blair Athol’s naturally weighty character, while still leaving enough oak and spice to keep everything nicely structured.
