Blair Athol Flora & Fauna Cask Strength 1st Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky 16 Year Old · 1981 Vintage
In stock
Flora and Fauna, nicknamed by the late whisky writer, Michael Jackson, was a themed series of distillery only single malt whisky releases. Each distillery was given a particular creature as its symbol, which is elegantly displayed on each bottle's beautiful label.
Gradually as distilleries were commercialised, closed or sold, the range of Flora and Fauna contracted, leaving these select remaining bottles collectable. Most often blended, whisky from each of these distilleries is rarely bottled as single malt, making each bottle from this collection even more rare.
Only a select few of the Flora & Fauna range were bottled at cask strength.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery shimmer and a mahogany-edged glow, rich with honeyed depth.
Nose
Opulent aromas of orchard fruit, honeyed pear and vanilla unfold, edged by sherried warmth. Dried plum and fig mingle with orange zest, toffee and almond biscuit, while clove and nutmeg weave through toasted oak. A waxy, perfumed sweetness hints at cask-strength richness and legacy.
Palate
Powerful and velvety on the palate, Blair Athol Flora & Fauna unfurls with syrupy toffee and dried fig, woven with dark chocolate and orange zest. Sherried richness coats the mouth, revealing roasted almond, cinnamon, and clove spice, underpinned by bold oak and a peppery, lingering finish.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish unfolds with sherry-bent sweetness, dried orchard fruit, and orange zest, underscored by vanilla and warming spice. Toasted oak coats the palate, while a faint smoky mineral echo lingers and slowly fades to a refined, enduring glow.
