Blair Athol 2017 Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky 23 Year Old · 1993 Vintage
In stock
The first official release since 2003 and the distillery's first appearance in Diageo's annual Special Releases.
Matured in European oak butts that have been scraped, toasted, recharred and refilled with fortified wine in the UK before being filled with whisky.
Only 5514 bottles have been release.
A rich, fruity malt from very fine ex-bodega casks, this makes a real winter warmer, with plenty of lively fruit and spice to cut through its thick, sweet nature and reveal its true complexity.
Whisky Magazine Recommended 8.8/10

Tasting Notes
Nose
Figs, damsons and raisins envelope the nose, with strawberry jam and Morello cherries, touched by burnt toffee and maple syrup. Pine needles and black tea lend a crisp, leafy lift.
Palate
Zippy as hell, with a thin, potent texture that almost injects the flavours-strawberry jam and cherryade with citrus, prunes and again the maple syrup.Assam tea and peppermint towards the end.
Finish
Long and spicy with a peppermint zing, burnt toffee and salted caramel.
