A very moreish Marsala cask influenced Benromach.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber-gold with a warm copper glow, edged in mahogany and ruby tones.

Nose

Notes of sultana and raisin mingle with Danish pastries, aromatic oak and a creamy yoghurt nuance.

Palate

Sour berries lead the palate, balanced by almond-soft marzipan and a luscious rum-and-raisin fudge. A chewy, fruit-forward sweetness lingers with creamy richness.

Finish

Sweet and grapey on the finish, it lingers with dried fruit and a warm, spicy oak fade that coats the palate with quiet richness.

(ben-ROM-ach) Benromach first opened in 1900, and is situated next to the railway line in Forres, about 25 miles east of Inverness on the main route to Aberdeen. Like many distilleries that opened around this time, the distillery survived until the 1980s, but with many changes of ownership and extended periods of closure.
