Glenlivet French Oak Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky (1 Litre) (Old Bottling) 15 Year Old
In stock
Whisky and oak have been allies since distilling began, while the "Auld Alliance" between France and Scotland dates back over 700 years. In celebration, the marriage of the original Single Malt and new French Oak from the Limousin region is the perfect match.
The uncompromising ambition of George Smith, legendary founder of The Glenlivet Distillery, was to create a Single Malt Whisky of exceptional quality. The peerless Glenlivet Whisky of today bears his indelible hallmark. There is still only one malt whisky that has the unchallengeable right to call itself The Glenlivet.
An expression that has never changed. Both Traditional oak casks and specially-coopered new French Limousin oak casks have been used for maturation before the final marriage. The alliance between the new French Oak and traditional oak results in a whiskey with the perfect balance of rich spiciness and mellow fruitiness inherent to The Glenlivet.
George Smith would have approved.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep golden amber with coppery highlights.
Nose
Opens with refined oak and vanilla, a creamy toffee sweetness, and ripe orchard fruit—pear and golden apple—lifted by floral honey. Gentle clove and nutmeg spice, a delicate almond note, and toasted timber add intrigue. The aroma is polished oak with subtle citrus zest, hinting at the French Limousin cask influence and The Glenlivet’s signature mellow fruitiness.
Palate
Silky and well-knit, the palate offers creamy vanilla and orchard fruit—peach, pear—woven with toasted almond. French Limousin oak lends a delicate spice of cinnamon and nutmeg, while traditional casks enrich the texture with subtle oak sweetness. Medium-bodied, elegant and long, it glides to a warm fruit-and-spice finish with a refined, toasty oak echo.
Finish
Silky, long finish of honeyed vanilla and orchard fruit, threaded with spice from the French Limousin oak. Nutmeg and clove ride on toasted oak, then fade to caramel and almond, leaving a warm, refined glow that lingers with Glenlivet’s signature balance of spice and mellow fruit.
