Ardbeg Twenty Something Committee Exclusive Single Malt Scotch Whisky 23 Year Old
In stock
A 23-year-old single malt filled into cask at a time when the Islay distillery was facing an uncertain future.
Ardbeg Twenty Something is a vatting of ex-Bourbon and ex-oloroso Sherry casks, filled at a very difficult time for the cult Islay distillery.
Distillery manager and Committee chairman Mickey Heads, who spent some time at Ardbeg while working at nearby Laphroaig during the 1990s, said: ‘This magnificent whisky was created within the retired iconic still which stands proud outside our distillery today. ‘It’s a glimpse back into Ardbeg’s turbulent past and reaffirms just why the distillery couldn’t be allowed to disappear.’
Dr Bill Lumsden, director of distilling, whisky creation and whisky stocks at Ardbeg, described Ardbeg Twenty Something as ‘bursting with rich, deep flavours’, with ‘an incredibly smoky, silky quality’.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and hints of mahogany.
Nose
An easy, inviting opening that firmly roots this in Islay. Melon and cinnamon mingle with sweet, salty Parma ham; honeycomb and chocolate lift the sweetness, then peat arrives—soft, caramel-like and floral, with a gentle smoky glow.
Palate
Silky and balanced, the palate unfolds with soft peat weaving through juicy melon and a whisper of ham salt. Honeyed sweetness, caramel and vanilla from the bourbon cask mingle with orchard fruit, while a gentle, refined smoke linger to finish.
Finish
A quick, snappy finish that doesn’t overstay its welcome, leaving a light sweet peat coating and a lingering wisp of smoke.
