Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge, rich and lustrous like molten caramel in a glass.
Nose
Aromas of intense peat smoke and maritime brine, with medicinal iodine, ash and lacquered wood. Beneath the haze, dark dried fruit—fig and raisin—meets cocoa and toffee, lifted by vanilla and spice from the sherry cask. A bold, coastal perfume that stings the nose with Ardbeg’s signature fervor.
Palate
Powerful, full-bodied palate of Ardbeg at cask strength: roasting peat smoke, medicinal iodine, and a marine tang that clings to the tongue. Sherry influence emerges as dark fig and prune with cocoa and a trace of orange zest, balanced by vanilla sweetness and peppery spice. Creamy yet rugged, the finish is long, smoky, and echoes sea-salt and oak.
Finish
Long, maritime finish powered by Ardbeg peat and coastal smoke, with a warm cask-strength blaze. Iodine, sea-salt and charred oak linger, slowly giving way to dark chocolate, dried fruit and vanilla from the sherry cask, finishing with peppery spice and a resinous, lingering smoke.
