Ardbeg Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the bravest souls dare to venture.Swirling aromas and torrents of deep, peaty, peppery taste lurk beneath the surface of this beautifully balanced dram. Finished in new french oak casks for a more tarry, spicy and leathery style of Ardbeg. Like the whirlpool itself, Corryvreckan is not for the faint-hearted!

Tasting Notes
Nose
Heady, intense and powerful, torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil pour from the glass, followed by waxy dark chocolate, warm blackcurrants and muscovado sugar. A briny edge of salty seasoning introduces seaweed and smoky bacon swirling on the surface.
Palate
Deep, peppery and chewy, bombarding the tongue. The first sip brings forth chewy steak soaked in pepper sauce with the tang of crispy seaweed. Black tarry espresso coffee coats the palate with rich melted dark fruits and bitter almonds. Star anise and hickory dry out the palate before a surprise note of chalky effervescent violets.
Finish
Long, deep and remaining powerful into the finish with black tarry coffee, chocolate coated cherries and hot pepper sauce.
