The malt is what defines its distinctive profile. Described as tasting like ‘biting on a spiky ball’, Ardcore is a dram that wears its heart on its sleeve… its black heart!

Tasting Notes
Colour
Obsidian black with copper-amber reflections.
Nose
Fresh, floral and herbal with tart, zesty notes. Hints of mixed herbs and cedar, bright orange and grapefruit, and a lively sweep of menthol and peppermint. With water, diesel oil and tar surface, alongside hints of fresh paint and aniseed, then ease into memories of freshly cut hay, a touch of silage, and a savoury bread-dough undertone.
Palate
On the palate, a lively, vibrant, sharp, zingy texture leads to bold, distinctive flavours: malty biscuit, powerful aniseed, cardamom, antiseptic lozenge, and sweet mint toffee, finished with a whisper of cigar ash.
Finish
An enduring, salty finish with firm oak tannins and leather, where mint and tar linger long after the last note, leaving a brisk, coastal echo on the palate.
