Like its name suggests, Ardbeg Hypernova is a hyper-peated malt and the smokiest Ardbeg on record. With phenol levels in excess of 170 PPM (parts per million), this whisky is a dimension beyond all that came before it. For those brave enough to hazard a sip, Hypernova propels the palate at full force towards mind-bendingly powerful notes of tar, creosote and soot.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep copper-amber with a rich, golden glow.
Nose
Volcanic peat smoke roars from the glass—intense, medicinal and coastal. Tar and creosote fuse with burnt matches and soot, while iodine and sea-salt thread through. A whisper of vanilla hints at the cask, and the aroma remains electric, caustic, and utterly captivating—a true peat frontier.
Palate
On the palate it erupts with hyper-peat intensity: tar, creosote and soot ride a viscous, oily mouthfeel. Medicinal iodine and graphite mingle with mineral ash as the heat from the 51% ABV stings the tongue, forging a bold, fearless sip. The finish is long and smoky, leaving ember-like echoes of scorched wood and salt.
Finish
Relentless peat drives the finish in a smoky, tar‑touched finale. Creosote and ash linger like embers, with mineral brine and a hint of iodine shading the palate. A warming, resinous fade stretches long and maritime, leaving a savage-elegant impression that lingers far beyond the sip.
