Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery reflections and a warm honey-gold glow.
Nose
Intense peat smoke bursts from the glass: charcoal and creosote mingle with tar and treacle toffee. Subtle vegetal whispers—fennel, celery and green pepper—linger beneath. As it loosens, milk chocolate, aniseed and more woodsmoke emerge. A drop of water frees herbal notes—fennel, coriander, lavender—while the classic Ardbeg aromatic smoke stays, touched by a waft of fresh sea spray.
Palate
A distinctly peppery mouthfeel opens to a complex procession of treacle toffee, aniseed, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and briar wood. A tingling pepper lingers as sweeter notes fade, yielding savoury depths of charcoal, smoked bacon, burnt toast and tar.
Finish
A long, lingering finish that whispers peppermint and clove, with a cool, minty echo intertwined with the unmistakable Ardbeg smoke.
