This limited edition Islay single malt was launched to celebrate Ardbeg Day 2023. This experimental whisky was distilled without using Ardbeg’s copper purifier, ensuring that bolder, heavier compounds passed through the distillation process. This distorts the usual balance between fruit, sweetness and smoke, whilst accentuating the smoky and oily character of Ardbeg.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-bronze glow and honey-gold highlights.
Nose
Smoke rises with a cloying sweetness, intensely pungent and aromatic. A distinctive farmyard note drifts alongside a crunchy creosote-tar edge. A splash of water loosens the vapours to reveal dark chocolate cream, braided with a ribbon of smoked artichoke.
Palate
A bitter-sweet surge spreads through ash-dusted coal, with cardamom, peppermint and coffee grits weaving across the tongue. Dark chocolate and menthol-eucalyptus roll in, obscuring the fruit and floral heart. Subtle wisps of aniseed, cinnamon balls and antiseptic lozenges drift, leaving a bold, smoky, lingering finish.
Finish
The aftertaste lingers long and bold, with an almost anaesthetising sensation.
