"Without water, this is no great shakes. With water, it becomes a different beast altogether, the intense peaty notes reminiscent of peppered smoked fish. Sweetness and fruit remain, however, performing a captivating dance macabre with the grouchy smoke."
Amrut for me are making some of the most impressive single malts out there and it is only a matter of time before they become as popular as Japanese or even scottish malt?
This is one of the whiskies of the year and one for those that like big, bold and powerful single malts and i put this on a Islay tasting as a blind bottle and it more than held its own against the likes of Laphroaig 18yo, Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg Uigeadail which is as much evidence as you need to believe me how good this is.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Explosive peat smoke fills the nose, peppered with maritime iodine and a hint of smoked fish. Beneath, bright sweetness and orchard fruit swirl through the haze, while vanilla-caramel undertones glisten at the edges, all framed by the bold, cask-strength heft.
