Tasting Notes

Nose

Heavy, thickly oaked and complex, with curious barley-sugar notes veiled in soft smoke. Bold, yet seductively gentle on the nose.

Palate

The gentle smoke develops into strong peat notes, curiously accompanied by sherry trifle. This is followed by intense chocolate fudge and vanilla.

Finish

Quite dry on the finish, with a strong hit of spice, but satisfying all the same.

Amrut
Amrut was founded in Bangalore in 1948 by J. N. Radhakrishna Rao Jagdale, shortly after Indian independence. The company began as a producer of Indian-made spirits before developing into one of the most important names in Indian single malt whisky. Its current main distillery is at Kambipura, around 20 kilometres from Bangalore, and was built in 1987.
