Amrut Permutations Series III First Fill Ruby Port Barrique Cask Indian Single Malt Whisky 6 Year Old
In stock
Distilled at Amrut in Bangalore, this 6-year-old Indian single malt forms part of the Permutations Series III from Fib Whisky. Originally matured in an ex-rye barrel before an 8-month finish in a first-fill ruby port barrique, it was bottled in Scotland at a natural strength of 59.1% ABV, with just 75 bottles produced.
The Permutations series explores the second life of selected single casks, taking the remaining spirit and giving it a distinctive finishing period to create a different expression of the whisky. In this case, the ruby port barrique adds a deeper fruit character and extra richness to Amrut’s naturally bold, spicy spirit, bringing layers of red fruit, chocolate and oak alongside the distillery’s signature intensity.
The label artwork by Scottish artist Orla Stevens references the historic Atakur Inscription, a stone dating from around the year 950 near the Chelleshvara Temple in Karnataka, roughly 42km from the modern-day Amrut distillery. The stone commemorates a loyal hound named Kali who was killed defending his master during a hunt, a story playfully reimagined on the label.
