The seventh small-batch release from Wolfburn - Batch 458 has been crafted from a 50/50 combination of Whisky matured for 7 years in first fill PX sherry butts, married with lightly peated spirit matured in first fill bourbon barrels. The result is a rich, sweet Single Malt with a truly exceptional depth of flavour.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Tracle and coffe notes lead the way, accomapnied by subtle tones of cherry and dried spice.

Palate

Hazelnut, almonds and cloves are all present, overlaid with soft peat smoke.

Finish

Treacle sweetness remains present until the end, alongside hints of spice. A trace of peat smoke lingers.

(WOLF-burn) Wolfburn takes its name from a historic distillery founded in 1821 by William Smith on the outskirts of Thurso, where it quickly became the largest distillery in Caithness. The original site later fell silent and was eventually left in ruins, but the name returned when the modern Wolfburn Distillery was built nearby and spirit began flowing again on Burns Night, 25 January 2013.
