About Wolfburn
(WOLF-burn) Wolfburn takes its name from a historic distillery founded in 1821 by William Smith on the outskirts of Thurso, where it quickly became the largest distillery in Caithness. The original site later fell silent and was eventually left in ruins, but the name returned when the modern Wolfburn Distillery was built nearby and spirit began flowing again on Burns Night, 25 January 2013.
Its first single malt, Northland, was released in 2016, giving Wolfburn a modern identity rooted in one of the oldest whisky names in the far north of Scotland. Today Wolfburn has built its reputation around small-scale production and an unhurried style, with a core range that includes Northland, Aurora, Morven, Langskip, 10 Year Old and 12 Year Old expressions.
