Tasting Notes

Nose

Vanilla and caramel rise with honeyed fruit, hints of fig and raisin from the sherry, and a touch of orange zest. Subtle peat smoke threads through the sweetness, balanced by pale malt, oak and a whisper of coastal salinity that lingers on the nose.

(WOLF-burn) Wolfburn takes its name from a historic distillery founded in 1821 by William Smith on the outskirts of Thurso, where it quickly became the largest distillery in Caithness. The original site later fell silent and was eventually left in ruins, but the name returned when the modern Wolfburn Distillery was built nearby and spirit began flowing again on Burns Night, 25 January 2013.
