Wolfburn No. 128 Small Batch Release #1 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
In stock
This whisky is the first in a series of Small Batch releases from the Wolfburn distillery. Matured in small ex-Bourbon casks that had previously contained peated whisky, imparting a subtle smokiness to the whisky. Named after the location it was matured - Warehouse No1, Row 28. Only 6000 bottles were produced. Peated to 10ppm.
Natural colour and initially sweet with vanilla and toffee notes on the nose, followed by a tang of smoke mixed with dried apples and nutmeg. On the palate the sweetness of dark chocolate melds with dried apricots and oranges. Complex flavours continue to unfold, with warm spices leading to a tantalisingly smoke-infused finish.
Impressive complexity here for just a 3 year old malt and just the right level of smoke here to compliment the Wolfburn style spirit.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Natural colour, pale gold with sunlit amber highlights.
Nose
Sweet vanilla and toffee lift the nose, crowned by a gentle peated smoke. Oatmeal and fresh barley lend a cereal backbone, while dried apples and nutmeg add warm, orchard-spiced depth.
Palate
An oily, waxy mouthfeel coats the palate, opening with green bell pepper notes that soften into lime curd and lemongrass. Dark chocolate sweetness meets dried apricots and oranges, while warm spices unfold. A wasabi-like heat and white pepper rise, finishing with a smoke-tinged warmth and a delicate touch of anise.
Finish
A spicy, lingering finish of green fruit and vegetal tones, with white pepper and aromatic wood smoke.
