Wolfburn Kylver Series #2 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
In stock
Sometimes at Wolfburn they have the odd special cask that delivers a distinctively good whisky. Perhaps one that nature has intended to mature in its own special way or a different type of cask. To make sure these whiskies get their own stage to be shared and enjoyed they have created The Kylver Series.
Named after a burial stone that features one of the earliest examples of the Viking runic alphabet and to reflect the history of Caithness that surrounds the distillery.
The Kylver Series will grow as Wolfburn grows and chart our journey through the years ahead.
The second release in Wolfburn's very limited Kylver Series, this edition features the rune meaning aurochs (which was a type of large cattle that is now extinct) on its label, and the whisky itself was drawn from a combination of bourbon barrels and a second-fill ex-Oloroso Sherry butt.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with a honey-gold gleam and copper-bronze undertones.
Nose
Opulent, dark-fruited nose with fig and raisin, treacle and cocoa. Orange zest and almond paste lift the richness, while vanilla and caramel from the bourbon cask mingle with a sultry oloroso sweetness. Oak and a whisper of leather meet a hint of sea air, suggesting a refined balance and lingering warmth.
Palate
Silky, warming on the palate, with bourbon-vanilla sweetness driving caramel and toasted oak. Sherry influence cushions dried fig, raisin and dark chocolate, brightened by orange zest and almond. Spices—clove and nutmeg—tingle mid-palate, delivering a long, elegant finish where fruit and oak linger with a resinous, nutty depth.
Finish
Silky and long, the finish unveils dried fruit and orange zest, folding into cocoa and spice from the ex-Oloroso. Bourbon sweetness cushions toasted oak as a whisper of sea air lingers, fading to a warm, refined afterglow.
