Tasting Notes

Colour

A rich amber-gold glow, with coppery highlights and a burnished mahogany edge.

Nose

Opulent sherry aromas envelope prune and fig, with orange zest, toffee and vanilla. Nutty almond and walnut notes mingle with baking spices and a touch of leather, all framed by polished oak.

Palate

Silky, refined and gently weighted at 40%. Dried fig and raisin mingle with orange zest, toasted almond and chocolate, touched by sherry sweetness. Warm spice—cinnamon and clove—drifts through polished oak, finishing long, nutty and subtly resinous.

Finish

Silky and enduring, the finish pours warmth with rich sherry sweetness—dark raisin, fig, and orange peel, layered over toasted oak, cocoa, and spice. It lingers long, softly nutty and refined.

Tamnavulin
(Tam-na-VOO-lin) Tamnavulin opened in 1966 in the village of Tomnavoulin, beside the River Livet in the foothills of the Cairngorms. The purpose-built distillery stands on the site of a 16th-century carding mill, and the old wooden water wheel still appears on the brand’s bottles. After closing in 1995 during the industry downturn, the distillery reopened for testing in 2000, underwent a major refurbishment in 2007, and changed the shape of its stills in 2010.
