Colour

Deep amber with coppery highlights and a warm honey-gold glow.

Nose

Toasty cereals mingle with cocoa and oak, brushed by caramel sweetness and cinnamon spice, with a hint of bonfires. A warm, comforting nose that hints at aged barrels and smoky depth.

Palate

A smoked chocolate bar with a palate of nougat, caramel, liquorice, sweet apple and oak.

Finish

A long, smoky finish that lingers with vanilla sweetness and orange zest, unveiling tobacco, dried red fruits and a final, enduring kiss of oak.

Stauning was founded in 2005 on Denmark’s west coast by nine friends from outside the drinks industry, who began with two small pot stills in an old butcher’s shop in the village of Stauning. A major step followed in 2018, when the distillery opened its purpose-built new site, reflecting how far the project had grown from its early experimental beginnings.
