Thornaes Inaugural Release Danish Organic Single Malt Whisky 3 Year Old · 2020 Vintage
In stock
The very first release of Thornæs Single Malt Whisky. It is - in other words - a small piece of Thornaes history, carefully selected from the stocks of maturing whiskies.
The first release is a Double Cask Whisky that has spent its first 13 months in new Danish oak and then up to 25 months in a Bourbon cask of white American oak.
The maturation in the Danish oak took place in small 50 liter casks, which created the foundation of the whiskey and gave it both lots of toffee and warm spices, but also good complexity with notes of pepper and mild tobacco. Subsequently, the large 250 liter hogshead Bourbon cask has ensured the whiskey additional mild notes of vanilla and caramel as well as a more rounded and harmonious profile.
All bottles are numbered. Hardboard box with window and magnetic closure included.

Colour
Rich amber-gold with copper-tinged edges and a honeyed glow.
Nose
Toffee folds through warm Danish oak, opening with peppery spice and a subtle tobacco note. Vanilla and caramel follow from the Bourbon cask, lending a rounded, inviting sweetness and creamy warmth that lingers on the senses.
Palate
On the palate, a foundation of toffee and warm Danish spice sits alongside pepper and a hint of tobacco. Bourbon cask notes bring vanilla and caramel, smoothing into a rounded, harmonious core. A touch of oak and subtle sweetness linger, with a gentle warmth from the 50.9% ABV finishing long and clean.
Finish
Toffee and warm spice linger, brightened by vanilla and caramel from the Bourbon cask. Subtle pepper and a whisper of tobacco weave through honeyed Danish oak, leaving a balanced, silky sweetness that fades into a warm, lasting glow.
