Fary Lochan is a small family distillery run by three siblings and their mother. The distillery is named after the lake on the plot and an ancient spelling of the town, Farre, it’s located in.

A soft and fruity nose, with lots of dark chocolate and hazelnut, Dried fruits; raisins and dates, with hints of roasted coffee. Rich and luxurious on the palate, with rich dark chocolate, Black Forest gateau, black cherry, and an underlying woody char.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany edge, a warm, wine-like glow hinting at burnt caramel and dark chocolate.

Nose

Soft, fruit-forward aroma with dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts. Dried fruits—raisins and dates—linger with coffee-tinged notes, creating a rich, luxurious perfume that invites the palate.

Palate

Velvety and luxurious on the palate, this delivers rich dark chocolate with Black Forest gateau and black cherry at the core. Subtle roasted coffee notes weave through, framed by a woody char that lingers into a long, opulent finish.

Finish

Powerful, long finish that lingers with decadent dark chocolate and black cherry, eased by roasted coffee and a touch of charred oak. Velvet, warming and slightly drying, it coats the palate with dried fruit sweetness and cocoa, fading to a cocoa-dusted echo.
