Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany glow.
Nose
An opulent hush of dried fruits—plum, fig and raisin—sits over orange zest, toffee and dark chocolate. Spices skim the surface—clove and nutmeg—while polished oak, leather and a kiss of tobacco deepen the aroma, carried by a refined sherry sweetness and a waxy, antique-glass perfume.
Palate
Silky and refined on the palate, this 1964 St. Magdalene offers sherried elegance: dusk-dried fig and raisin, plum and orange zest, all wrapped in cocoa, coffee, and a touch of marzipan. Gentle almond sweetness with warming spice—cinnamon and clove—and a soft oak backbone. The finish is long, poised, with whispers of tobacco and polished leather.
Finish
An exceptionally long, refined finish that slowly reveals dark dried fruits—figs and raisins—and hints of cocoa and red leather. Sherried sweetness eases into toasted oak, gentle spice, and coffee-like bitterness, leaving a silky, lingering warmth that coats the palate with lasting elegance.
