SPEY Tenne 9 Year Old begins with bourbon cask maturation before a finishing period in Tawny Port casks, then is bottled at 46% ABV. That finishing period gives the whisky a richer and more fruit-led profile than a full ex-bourbon maturation, adding extra depth while still keeping the distillery’s softer Speyside character intact.
The Tawny Port casks bring a darker layer of berry fruit, gentle sweetness and warming spice, which sits neatly alongside the vanilla and honeyed notes from the bourbon wood. The result is a polished, approachable single malt with a little more richness and colour than the brighter, lighter expressions in the range.
