Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with a coppery glow and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Towering peat smoke and sea-salt brine open the aroma, with iodine and medicinal notes. Layered beneath, rich sherry-tinged fruit—fig, prune, cherry—meets dark chocolate, tobacco, and leather, while warm oak adds depth. A saline mineral lift keeps it distinctly coastal.
Palate
Powerfully peated and maritime, this cask-strength Port Ellen coats the palate with thick peat smoke, iodine and sea spray, then pours in layers of dark fig, dried cherry and treacle from the sherry cask. Rich espresso, cocoa and warming spice unfold over a waxy mouthfeel, finishing with charcoal, clove and a long, briny echo of oak.
Finish
Long, peaty finish with maritime salt and charred oak, slowly opening to rich sherry sweetness. Dried fruit, dark chocolate and spice linger, leaving a warming, peppery glow that persists.
