Port Ellen (silent) Gordon & MacPhail Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (35cl) 18 Year Old · 1979 Vintage
Out of stock
Port Ellen, cask strength and sherried. One of a number of bottlings from sister casks that Gordon and Macphail released towards the end of the millenium. subsequent later GnM bottlings of Port Ellen tended to be watered down so this is a fantastic bottling of Islay Malt at a good age.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, dark amber with mahogany depth and a coppery glow.
Nose
Intense coastal peat and sea-salt smoke entwine with lavish sherry sweetness. Raisins, dried fig, and dark chocolate mingle with toffee, orange zest and warm spice, while iodine and medicinal notes linger on the finish. Bold, opulent, and gloriously Islay at cask strength.
Palate
Powerful cask-strength peat and coastal brine drive the palate, wrapped in rich sherry. Dark fig and plum mingle with cocoa, espresso and toasted oak, while black pepper and spice thread through the mid-palate. The finish lingers long—smoky, resinous and tarry—with a maritime warmth that persists.
Finish
Long, warming finish where coastal peat and sea spray yield to rich sherry sweetness. Dried fig and raisin meet dark chocolate and toffee, with orange peel and spice lingering on the palate. Velvet oak tannins add structure as a subtle saline note fades into a smoke-kissed, enduring echo.
